Summary
The Plant Manager is accountable for providing effective leadership and management to safely meet production goals, at targeted cost levels, while meeting customer expectations for quality and delivery. A key focus is the development of strategic and/or tactical plans to assure all activities are focused on continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Promote safe work practices and demonstrate a zero tolerance for non-compliance with safe work practices, policies and regulations
- Safely meet or exceed production targets and goals
- Oversee the care and maintenance of all equipment, systems and facilities, in order that all are maintained in safe, efficient operating condition, and in compliance with federal and state laws
- Oversee the procurement of raw materials and scheduling of manufacturing equipment
- Identify, lead and support continuous improvement projects
- Support the Quality Assurance team to ensure product quality meets specifications, making adjustments as warranted
- Collaborate with Marketing and Sales team to implement strategies which improve the marketability of manufactured products
- Oversee the hiring, orienting, and training of technical production employees to ensure a competent workforce
Specialized Skills and Abilities
- Operational knowledge of sales, production and maintenance activities; including safety, productivity, quality, cost management and people
- Working knowledge of applicable practices, procedures, policies and regulations
- Demonstrated ability to successfully lead a team
- Proven ability to instill accountability and manage performance
- Strong problem-solving skills and action oriented to achieve results
- Demonstrated accomplishments through the use of Lean / Six Sigma tools
- Thermoplastic injection molding experience a plus
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or applicable degree
- 5 years’ experience in manufacturing management and supervision
- Proficient in the application of Lean / Six Sigma principles (certified)
- ERP experience (Syteline/INFOR experience, a plus)
- Proficient IT skills (MS Office, production scheduling, etc.)
